I like the gym, not only because I can work out, but it is also a mini representation of the larger society which we lived in. It’s quite a marvel that we can link a person’s attitude towards sport just by the way they dress in the gym. Below are my humble observations:
The sloppy, “don’t care what they wear to the gym” type: You know, the people who just open their closet and put on the first t-shirt and shorts that they see on the top pile of clothing…they have the “Just Do It” attitude in the gym. They don’t care about proper techniques nor the proper body positions. They prefer using the machines, because unlike free weights, they can just add on as many weight as they can and just push and pull as fast as they can. These are the people that cause others to break their eardrums because they will hit the damn weights together on the release at least once during their repertoire
The brand seeker: The people that only wear the latest release from famous sport brands, they are the socializers. These people usually come in groups, gather in a specific area to exercise together and help each other out and after each set they will take a 5-10 minutes break and chat.
The DND (Do Not Disturb) type: The people that have their ear phones on the entire session and usually where monotone sportswear. They are the conservative, one-way type. They will do the same repertoire over and over again, day in and day out at the same time with the exact sequence. They are happy with what they are doing and don’t feel the needs to add in any new elements in their repertoire.
For me, I like to go to the gym either in the early morning when it just opens or one hour before the gym closes. We are the focus and discipline type with self-motivation to challenge ourselves to go further.
So, which type are you?
